Norfolk’s Traditional, Rural, Vernacular & Sustainable Skills Centre
The Traditional Skills Trust (TST) aims to grow an existing consultancy and skills training facility. The proposed expanded facility seeks to deliver skills opportunities that benefit the natural and historic environment.
On the site there has been a long standing 12 year commitment to delivering skills training on behalf of the charity: Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and to Cressing Temple Barns ECC.
Tradition craft skills, in collaboration with the SPAB, will be taught. Skills such as Lime mortar and plasters, masonry, carpentry and blacksmithing will be demonstrated as a ‘hands on’ experience.
Wildlife awareness and wilding will also be taught by utilising onsite ancient woodland, ponds, ditches and other habitats which have been lovingly tended, managed and developed over the last 15 years.
Small scale Arable and animal husbandry learning opportunities will be woven into assisting with sustainable living possibilities. Animal and crop cultivation areas are also provided as a further opportunity to teach sustainable horticultural skills.
We take in and care for a number of endangered animals, here is one of our wonderful hedgehogs who are thriving in the habitats and environments we help manage and create for them.
Support traditional skills.
